About Ryan Jones

Founder of LiveWhere

I started this because I was trying to work out the real cost differences between a few UK areas, and the data was all there in government publications, just scattered across the ONS, Land Registry, Ofgem, DLUHC and others, each in a different format and spreadsheet. Nobody was pulling it together in one place in a way that was actually easy to read and compare. So I built LiveWhere to do that, because I think everyone deserves access to clear, honest information when making decisions about where to live.

Ryan built LiveWhere because he believes the official data on the UK's cost of living is out there, just scattered across dozens of sources and buried in spreadsheets that most people will never open. He wanted to change that.

LiveWhere brings together data from the ONS, Land Registry, Ofgem, DLUHC and other official sources into one place, covering more than 370 local authorities across England, Scotland and Wales. The goal is to make this data genuinely accessible and useful for anyone thinking about where to live or move to, without needing a stats background to understand what the numbers mean.

Every figure on the site comes from published government statistics. No surveys, no user-submitted data, no guesswork. Ryan is passionate about presenting data clearly and honestly, in plain English, so that anyone can read it and use it.
